The Animal Protection League of McCreary County is a humane animal shelter. We are a non-profit shelter and try to help the pet owners and stray animals of McCreary County. The shelter is dedicated to rescuing dogs and animals left homeless and surrendered for whatever reason. We try to place dogs in loving, responsible, committed permanent homes, following a comprehensive adoption process which includes taking considerable care in finding good matches and educating prospective adopters about the responsibilities and costs of bringing a dog into their homes and lives.
The shelter tries to assist the pet owners with low cost spay/neuter for their animals. All our shelter animals receive medical care while at the shelter and if adopted before the proper age of spaying or neutering the shelter will provide the adopter a voucher to use at a later date.
We have partnered with many rescues and foundations to help us find our dogs homes. The shelter also depends greatly on volunteers and fosters. Our community helps us with operations by donating but we also need help. Maintaining and caring for all the animals is a costly business. If you can assist with anything, please use our donation link or volunteer/foster forms.
